Once upon a time in the city called obulo town. There was an industrious woman called Egonma. Egonma is humble, loyal, caring and loving; she is a successful farmer in the land. Egonma is industrious and hard working, that is why she is successful in her farming business. Egonma upon all her success in farming business, yet there was something important lacking in her life, she did not have a child. After many years without a child, Egonma’s mother Nne, as she is popularly called by Egonma, her daughter advice her to divorce her first husband and remarried. Egonma obeyed her mother and divorce her first husband called emeka. Latter on Egonma got married to another man by name Ndubuisi. Ndubuisi is a mechanic who is also successful in his job just like his wife Egonma. After many years of their marriage, yet child was not coming. Egonma started doing all sorts of sacrifice to the gods just to get a child and prove that she is a woman. Egonma started her sacrifice to the gods when her mother took her to an herbalist who advises them on things to buy for the sacrifice which includes hen, red cloth, cola nut etc, after which the sacrifice will begins. Egonma was able to get all that is required for the sacrifice. Egonma waited many years after the sacrifice yet there was no child. One day Egonma was coming back from stream with her friend whose children are stubborn was narrating her ordeal to Egonma about what her children is doing to her. Egonma’s friend by name Ujunwa,  Ujunwa narrated how her children do disobey her, they will not wash plate, fetch fire wood, neither will they help her in her farming job during their holiday, she describe her children to Egonma as stubborn children. Egonma wondered why she is looking for a single child those with many are complaining of how stubborn their own are. Because of Egonma’s unpleasant situation she developed love for children, she started bringing children close to herself but some of her neighbour did not like it as one of them called Obidiya enters into Egonma’s house and drag out her own child who is playing with other children in Egonma’s house. Following all this pain Egonma decided to divorce her second husband Ndubuisi and get married to a third person who is married already with three children. Egonma married to the third husband called Uchenna who is married with three children. This man love her first wife and children so much and equally loves the second wife Egonma and do help her in her farming business. Though Uchenna married to Egonma, Egonma do not live in Uchenna’s house where Uchenna’s first wife and her children stay. Rather Uchenna stays with Egonma in Her house but do pay his first wife by name Nnenna and her children a visit. Egonma thought that as Uchenna is already a married man with three children that her problem of not getting a child is solved. Egonma look at herself it seem as if she is now very old to get pregnant and give birth to a child.
Egonma started thinking on the next action to take since all the sacrifice has failed her.
There was an advice from a relation of Egonma; and elderly woman. She advice Egonma on the next native doctor to visit called Amadi Oha. According to Egonma relation she describes the native doctor as the only one that have solution to Egonma’s problem.
Following this Egonma started sacrificing again. She started bathing with different native medicine while all this was going on Egonma’s age was getting closer.
After all the sacrifices for many years Egonma still could not get a child. Egonma decided to stop doing any other sacrifice and concrete and move on with her life.
Egonma humble herself the more to the husband and the husband Uchenna love her the more. One early morning Egonma brought out all the native medicine and all that were giving to her by the native doctor and destroy them.
Egonma’s Mother seeing this rebukes her and asked her “Egonma” how she would get blessing from the god’s if she go wronging them.
Egonma told the mother that she have decided to move on with her life and will never carry out any other sacrifices to the gods and stop disturbing herself for that which she could not get.
After three months of Egonma’s decision to stop sacrificing to the god’s she observed that she was two months pregnant. When her mother’s hear this she was very much happy and start to give praise the gods, but her daughter said is God Almighty that did it for her and not the gods. The husband was grateful to God and he stays more close to her wife Egonma to help her do some hard work at home.
After nine months egonma delivered of a bouncing baby boy and she called his name Onyemaechi meaning who knows tomorrow.
Egonma was grateful to God who took away her reproach and made her a mother at her old age, Egonma vow to train her son Onyema as she normally called him, in the way of the Lord so that when he grew up he will not depart from the right way.
Not soon Onyema start schooling in one of the best school in town because her mother Egonma want him to be train and be educated as she have the resources to train him.
